SpaceX has launched a new high-performance user terminal called the "Performance" dish.
Priced at $1,999, the new dish uses less power than the previous Flat High Performance and is significantly more rugged.
SpaceX claims service plan upgrades coming in 2026 will enable gigabit speeds.
The new Performance dish is available now in the United States for Business, Enterprise and Consumer customers.
Starlink has released a new performance-oriented user terminal, one that is expected to replace the Flat High Performance dish.
The new dish is simply called the "Performance" dish, and it has some significant upgrades over the Flat High Performance - making it the new flagship of the Starlink lineup.

Overall, the new dish is significantly more durable, with a wider operating temperature range and enhanced snowmelt capabilities compared to the previous generation hardware.
The Performance dish IP69K rating (with cables installed) is designed for extreme environments that require complete dust protection and resistance to high-pressure water jets.
Starlink states the Performance dish is "suitable for 1 meter of water submersion for up to 30 minutes and pressure washing," which is impressive. SpaceX provides a PDF that includes all the durability details and technical specifications.
To achieve this durability, the new design features an aluminum case and a redesigned locking cable connector that provides a more secure and durable connection to the dish:
The new performance dish has a smaller overall surface area, but has a more rectangular aspect ratio compared to the Flat HP dish. It's also 1.5 pounds lighter despite being more durable.
Here's a general idea of how Starlink's dishes compare in size:
Starlink Advanced Power Supply - Can utilize AC or DC power for the Performance Dish.
One big benefit of the new dish is the ability to be powered by either AC or DC sources.
The Advanced Power Supply that comes with the dish can use AC or DC power inputs to power your Starlink. It can also run off of AC with a battery backup connected to the DC input.
The kit comes with both AC and DC cables to supply power to the external power supply, which then provides power to the dish.
The Advanced Power Supply features an Ethernet port for connecting the system to a router or switch.
The Dish doesn't come with a router, but a Gen 3 router can be added to an order for no additional cost. Customers can also use third-party routers (such as Peplink gear), just like the Flat HP dish.
Mount options when ordering the Starlink Performance kit
Additionally, customers who order get a choice of either a wedge or flat mount, which is included for no extra charge.
Starlink has a list of accessories in this PDF, not all of which are available at launch.
Actuated And Flat High Performance Dishes Renamed
To simplify the high-performance dish lineup, Starlink decided to try to simplify the names. According to this help article, here is the new naming scheme:
Actuated High Performance is now Starlink Performance Kit (Gen 1)
Flat High Performance is now Starlink Performance Kit (Gen 2)
Performance kit released this week is the Gen 3 model.
Field Termination Kits - Upgrade From Previous Dishes
One listed Starlink accessory is what's called "Field Termination Kits." The Starlink help article states these won't be available until the Fall of 2025, but these will allow upgrading the Performance Gen 1 (Actuated) and Gen 2 (Flat HP) cables to the new connectors used with the Gen 3.
Starlink says the kits will include "easy-to-follow instructions that allow you to remove the ends of your existing cables, attach Starlink connectors, and seamlessly connect your new hardware."
For those who have existing wires from the previous generation kits routed in difficult-to-replace spaces, the ability to update the cables with the new connectors will be a big advantage.
Available Plans
The new Performance dish can be ordered with consumer Roam plans, or business Local and Global Priority plans. It is not currently available for residential consumer service.
