The Model Y comes with plenty of customization options all of which can be done on Teslaâs configuratorâ¦
After a lot of flirting and years of making EV enthusiasts wait, Tesla finally launched its first car in India – Model Y. Prices for the Model Y begin from Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and it is available in two versions: RWD and Long-range RWD. Along with this, Tesla has also opened its first ever showroom in India in the hearts of Mumbai. Deliveries for the Model Y will begin from the third quarter of 2025.
So if you want to experience the Model Y in person, you can head over to the showroom in Mumbai, which is also an experience centre for customers to get a better understanding of Tesla cars. Bookings open from today across India. Tesla will also soon open showrooms in Gurgaon and Delhi for potential customers to experience the cars. Till then, here’s an overview of the Model Y…
Tesla Model Y Price Rs 67.89 Lakh
With on-road prices in Mumbai ranging from around Rs 60 lakh to Rs 70 lakh, the Model Y’s initial pricing seems fair considering the heavy taxation as it’s a fully imported model. However, it comes with plenty of customization which would end up increasing the purchase cost.
For the white and black hue there is an additional Rs 95,000 cost, Rs 1.25 lakh for the blue shade and Rs 1.85 lakh for the red and silver colours. Furthermore, while the black cabin theme is standard, you will also have to pay Rs 95,000 extra for the white and black interior colour scheme.
Tesla Model Y Price: All You Need To Know…
The Model Y sports a sleek and modern design approach that will catch eyes on our roads. Overall, it looks athletic and has an aerodynamic silhouette to improve efficiency. Up front, it comes with a minimalist design with connected LED headlights being the highlight. It sits on 19-inch alloy wheels, and gets flush door handles for a modern look.
The rear looks very stylish with the connected lighting design and “Tesla” lettering smartly integrated within it.
The interior too follows the minimalist design approach, and is available in either an all black look or a black and white theme. The latter comes with white seats and white accents on the dashboard and door pads. The massive touchscreen infotainment system is the heart of the interior, as it controls almost everything in the car. From simply using it for navigation to playing games, you can do a lot using that screen.
To keep things practical, there is a lot of storage space in the lower centre console, and you get wireless phone charging pads. It gets tastefully curated ambient lighting to set the mood right.
The top features include a 15.4-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch rear entertainment screen, a panoramic glassroof, connected car tech features, multi-colour ambient lighting and multiple zones of climate control. Furthermore, it also gets an advanced ADAS package which is capable of self-driving the car, but that package comes at an additional Rs 6 lakh!
As mentioned above, it comes in two versions: Standard Range and Long Range. The former offers a WLTP-claimed range of 500 km while the latter has a claimed range of 622 km. The Standard version goes from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the top-spec version does it in 5.6 seconds.
The battery is capable of DC fast charging and you can get a range of 267 km with just 15 minutes of charging.
ZigSays…
The Model Y is for sure a cool EV to own, but it will be interesting to see if buyers pick it over German luxury EVs or even over the BYDs or the Kia EV6. While it all looks exciting, it would be wise to first be a spectator and see how the Tesla EVs perform in India. That being said, we think that the overall package of the Model Y looks tempting, and it surely would be a completely unique experience to own a car that’s so popular in certain international countries.
Furthermore, if sales pick up and Tesla considers local assembly or even contract manufacturing, prices might drop down and then the Tesla could possibly be a no-brainer! What do you think? Let us know in the comments section.
