On July 25, 2025 at approximately 21:00 CEST, the Starlink satellite network experienced a global outage. Users worldwide lost connectivity and the Starlink status page displayed error responses. SpaceX acknowledged the disruption roughly one hour after initial failure reports and stated that engineering teams were diagnosing the issue. Chief Executive Elon Musk issued an apology and indicated that service restoration efforts were underway.
Michael Nicolls, Vice President of Starlink Engineering, attributed the outage to a failure in critical internal software services that manage the core network. SpaceX announced that it is undertaking enhancements to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Earlier that evening, at around 21:00 CEST, the Starlink satellite constellation suffered a global outage. Users across multiple continents lost internet connectivity and encountered error messages on the Starlink status interface. SpaceX confirmed the network disruption one hour after reports began and mobilized engineering teams to address the fault. Chief Executive Elon Musk issued an apology and committed to a prompt resolution.
The network failure also disrupted T‑Mobile’s newly launched “T‑Satellite” messaging service in remote areas of the United States, which utilizes Starlink infrastructure. Ukrainian front‑line communications relying on satellite internet were similarly affected. SpaceX had expanded its ground‑station capacity in Ukraine at the request of national authorities three years prior to this incident.
