Speaking of performance, the Plaid variants come with improved brake pads that have a higher thermal capacity. There’s no word on specifics at this point, but the new pads should be welcome as the brakes can get pretty toasty considering the Model S Plaid rockets from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than two seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).
Last but not least, Tesla will offer a traditional round steering wheel as a no-cost option. This could help to make the models more appealing to those who were turned off by the yoke.
Pricing for the updated Model S starts at $89,990 and climbs to $109,990 for the Model S Plaid. The Model X will set you back $99,990 or $109,990 for the Plaid.
