The Model 3 presented here retains the same overall shape as the current car but the front end has been revised with a simpler bumper and a slightly larger grille at its base. Tesla’s designers have also ditched the oddly-shaped headlights of the outgoing Model 3 in favor of thinner and more angular LED units with new daytime running lights. These new headlights has also prompted Tesla to slightly alter the shape of the hood.
Some obvious changes have also been made to the rear of the new Model 3. The most obvious change is the fitment of sharp LED taillights that adopt a modified lobster-claw shape, a design trend that’s gained popularity throughout the industry in recent years. The rear of the EV also includes a new blacked-out section at its base, perhaps housing a subtle diffuser.
While the design changes don’t appear significant, it is understood that Tesla will manufacture the new Model 3 with larger casted parts and new panels that will allow it to reduce production costs further. We do not yet know exactly what alterations will be made to the cabin but these photos indicate it will continue to have a large central infotainment screen and a round steering wheel, rather than a yolk.
Hat tip to Robin Techo for the photos!
