Copy URL A prototype of the highly-anticipated upgraded Tesla Model 3 (2023), internally referred to as the “Highland” version, was recently photographed on a road in Xinjiang, China. The model was earlier spotted on a highway in California. Tesla Model 3 Project Highland expected to start production in September The vehicle, wrapped in black fabric to conceal its design, aligns with the pattern of camouflage often seen on pre-production models. The sighting has fueled speculation that Tesla might start production in September and initiate deliveries as early as October. The prototype likely originated from Tesla’s Giga Shanghai production facility, and the road test covered a distance of approximately 2,000 to 2,500 miles from Shanghai to Xinjiang.
