For Fast Analysis of Sodium, Potassium, Lithium The Model 420Cs is the latest addition to Sherwood Scientific Ltd.’s Flame Photometer range. Based on the established M420, the Model 420Cs offers improved performance and flexibility. The additional Caesium filter enables use of a Caesium internal reference as an alternative to the Lithium reference channel offered on Sherwood Dual Channel models previously. This added feature gives operators the ability to choose the internal reference element based on the sample matrices or to adapt existing procedures originally developed for discontinued instrumentation such as the IL 943 Flame Photometer. Since the 420Cs was launched in 2017, Sherwood’s focus has switched to enhancement to the Flame Photometer Range accessories. Firstly, the introduction of Regulated BlueNotes 420 software that allows operation in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11. More recently the M805 Continuous Flow Dilutor has become the M806, reflecting a move away from a voltage specific unit to one powered by an external switch mode power supply with multiplug adapter. In addition, the M805’s closed weir cup, used to transfer diluted samples to the flame photometer, has been replaced in the M806 by an open weir design, giving an improvement to overall system precision which is now better than 0.5%CV. Lastly, the M860 Autosampler has been redesignated to the M865 reflecting a stream of continuous improvements made to ruggedness and reliability over the 17 year lifetime of the M860. New on-board firmware updates also allow operation of the autosampler with post standard and post sample rinse; previously only an option when run via Sherwood’s BlueNotes software.
