Charlie Puth has pleaded to Elon Musk to stop launching rockets at 3am.
The ‘See You Again’ singer and LA resident has joined the wave of complaints against the SpaceX CEO, who maintains rocket testing bases in California, Florida and Texas. Puth took to X/Twitter to chastise Musk for firing the Falcon 9 rocket last night, gently requesting that the launches don’t increase in sound.

“These sonic booms have gotten progressively louder since they started launching the rockets in Santa Barbara,” he wrote. “This one at 3am today felt like 150-160 dB, violently shook our whole house, and really frightened my pregnant wife. I hope they do not get louder :/”. Since posting the tweet, Musk has not responded to Puth.
Musk has launched over 160 missions from his California and Florida sites this year. Locals have shared concerns about the intense noise made from the rockets, with longtime resident Janice Keller describing the sound as “emotionally and physically disturbing”.
SpaceX acknolwedges the sound of sonic booms, in particular from its Starship rocket – once described as “likely the loudest rocket ever“. However, Musk has claimed the Texas site “experiences storms and hurricanes that are far more serious than Starship launches” – despite the New York Times reporting that sonic booms could risk structurally damaging surrounding buildings.
Hi @elonmusk …these sonic booms have gotten progressively louder since they started launching the rockets in Santa Barbara. This one at 3am today felt like 150-160 dB, violently shook our whole house, and really frightened my pregnant wife. I hope they do not get louder :/
