X is down, with millions of people worldwide saying they cannot load the social media network.
The website went down in the UK just after 1pm, according to internet outage tracker Downdetector.
At its peak, more than half of the 11,000 affected users said they cannot load the X app as of 1.40pm.
The number has since eased to fewer than 250 users as of about 2.45pm.

Some 42,000 people in the US are facing similar problems, while well over 45,000 outage reports have been raised in Japan.
Users in Canada, Australia, France and Germany, among others, have also been impacted.
When Metro accessed X on a computer, the website became stuck on the X logo. It occasionally loaded but the feed displayed a message reading: ‘Something went wrong. Try reloading.’
When trying the X app, the main feed would load, yet no posts would be displayed. A pop-up to subscribe to X Premium, however, loaded just fine.
Why is X down?
Unlike most major social media platforms, X does not have a health status page, so it is unclear what is causing the blackout.
The service’s developers platform for app-makers says: ‘All systems are operational.’
This isn’t the first time X, formerly known as Twitter, has gone down.

Tens of thousands of people weren’t able to access the app last month, encountering empty feeds and endless loading screens.
