Trump calls falling out with Musk âa stupid momentâ in Muskâs life
A jury in Oakland, California, has ruled against Elon Musk in his lawsuit against artificial intelligence company OpenAI, finding the company not liable for allegedly straying from its original mission.
The unanimous verdict, delivered after less than two hours of deliberation, concluded that Musk waited too long to file his lawsuit, having missed the deadline for the statute of limitations.
Musk had accused OpenAI, its CEO Sam Altman, and President Greg Brockman of manipulating him into donating $38 million and then establishing a for-profit entity that prioritised financial gain over its initial non-profit goal to benefit humanity.
OpenAI countered that it was Musk who was primarily interested in financial benefits, and that his claims of the company breaching its founding agreement were made too late.
Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers accepted the jury's advisory verdict, dismissing Musk's claims, though his lawyer indicated a potential appeal, which the judge suggested would be an uphill battle.
