OLD SAYBROOK, CT. (WFSB) - We are learning more about the victims of the deadly labor day boat crash at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Three people died while six others were taken to the hospital.
After days of searching for bodies the focus now shifts to grieving.
It’s has been a tough week for this community - right now - services are being planned for the victims.
Services for one victim are actually taking place tonight.
“Ian was lovely, personable, respectful, I totally enjoyed having him as a student,” Marsha Regan, an art teacher for St. Bernard Catholic School said.
25-year-old Ian Duchemin was a 2016 graduate of Saint Bernard Catholic School.
His old teachers have nothing but good things to say about him.
“The first time I met him he was an 11 year old kid bouncing through the doors with rosy cheeks and blonde hair,” Sara Fogarty, a middle school science teacher at St. Bernard said. “A hard-working, smart, kind, kind kid.”
Ian’s body was one of two search crews spent the better part of last week looking for.
Both were found Friday.
