Tesla is a controversial automaker. From the brand’s controversial and eccentric executive, Elon Musk to the polarizing presence of the Cybertruck, Tesla isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers. As a result, the Tesla Robotaxi, a buzz-generating project for years now, has some ground to make up for the brand.
Amid recent press and the Warner Bros. reportedly hosting the debut, the Tesla Robotaxi needs to crush its reveal
The Tesla Robotaxi, as the name suggests, won’t be another consumer-facing electric vehicle (EV) like the Cybertruck or the Model Y. Instead, the Robotaxi will be a fully self-driving car with room for at least two adults and some cargo. Riders will be able to summon the self-driving cab via a smartphone app, not unlike the wildly popular Uber and Lyft applications.
Further, recent spy shots reveal what looks like a two-seater variant of the inflammatory Tesla Cybertruck. No wonder critics and fans are referring to it as the “Cybercab.” Make of that what you will. Some fans suggest that the Robotaxi will have a similar aesthetic and light bar arrangement as the current market Cybertruck.
Moreover, Tesla has reportedly partnered with Warner Bros. Studios to reveal the Robotaxi on October 10th. In fact, spy photos may have already captured a diminutive, heavily camouflaged Robotaxi at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, per Teslarati. If that’s the case, and Tesla is tapping the tenured Hollywood entity for its unveiling, the event had better be an eye-opener.
Still, even with (arguably justifiable) sass circulating all over social media poking fun at the Cybertruck, the fan’s diehard fans keep buying them. That, and the brand’s most popular vehicle, the Model Y, was the No. 5 best-selling vehicle in America in 2023. It’s on track to repeat that feat this year, as well.
In addition to the Robotaxi unveiling, Tesla may unveil other products and features in October, per Investors Business Daily. And with a potential partnership between Tesla and Uber bouncing around the rumor mill, the Robotaxi could be a win for the company.
