TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - East Texans are running for gold, in more ways than one. The East Texas Gold Run kicked off early Saturday morning.
People ran across the finish line in Bergfeld Park as part of an event to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. The run is hosted by the Gold Network of East Texas, a non-profit supporting pediatric cancer families.
September is childhood cancer awareness month, and the gold ribbon is the inernational awareness symbol for all types of childhood cancer.
The event also features a one-mile fun run or walk, which is not timed.
