Last year, Electrek reported that Tesla was changing its solar strategy, laying off workers, and now betting on certified installers.
With its own installations going down, Tesla is instead trying to sell its energy products, mainly its Powerwall and solar inverter, to other installers. Tesla wants to own the “energy ecosystems” inside the homes and it can do that with its Powerwall and solar inverter.
This makes those homeowners potential VPP or Tesla Electric customers.
Today, James Bickford, Tesla’s head of global residential energy product sales, made a call for installers to be certified on the company’s product (via LinkedIn):
Tesla is always looking for installers who can do quality work and provide great customer experiences. Become certified on Wall Connector, Powerwall, Solar inverter, Solar Roof, Powershare and more. Join us in accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
Tesla claims to currently have over 2,000 certified installers in 14 countries who have deployed over 1 million installations.
The company gives its certified installers access to its Tesla One software platform to manage their partner account, which includes quoting and order flow:
Tesla is also now certifying installers for its Powershare product, which is its bidirectional home charging with the Cybertruck.
