A man was struck by gunfire during an early morning shooting on Florida’s Turnpike, which Florida High Patrol says was an apparent “road rage incident.”
The shooting took place around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the unidentified suspect firing several shots at a man driving along the northbound lanes in a blue Tesla Model Y near mile marker 251, located at the exit for State Road 417 near Hunter’s Creek, spokeswoman Migdalisis Garcia said in a news release.
The victim, an unnamed 33-year-old, was taken to a hospital after being shot in the right leg, and two bullet holes were found on his driver-side door, with one shot shattering the window. Garcia described the suspect’s vehicle as a “gray or silver Volkswagen hatchback.”
No other details were released as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
