Man dies after being struck Friday by hit-and-run driver in Central City, NOPD says

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Central City late Friday night (Sept. 27), New Orleans police said.
The victim’s age and identity have not been disclosed. The NOPD described him only as “an unidentified adult Hispanic male.”
According to police, the man apparently walked into oncoming traffic on South Claiborne Avenue near Thalia Street when he was struck at about 10:30 p.m. The driver who struck the man fled and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
“At this time, investigators do not have information about the vehicle involved and are trying to determine how and why the accident occurred,” the NOPD said in a statement.
