Flags at half-staff in S.C. for fire chief killed during Helene

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Flags across South Carolina are flying at half-staff on Saturday in honor of a fire chief who gave his life in the line of duty during Hurricane Helene.
Circle Fire Chief Chad Satcher, 53, and firefighter Landon Bodie, 18, were killed when a tree fell on their truck around 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 27.
Satcher will be laid to rest after funeral services on Saturday morning. He served as a firefighter for 35 years and was named Circle Fire Department’s fireman on the year more than half a dozen times.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years and their son.
Governor Henry McMaster ordered all flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Saturday in tribute to Satcher.
Bodie will be laid to rest on Sunday.
