KIMBERLING CITY, Mo. (KY3) - Kimberling City, Mo. residents have seen a 50 to 70 percent water rate increase on their October bill, depending on how much water they use monthly. The Public Water Supply District 1 (PWSD 1) is responding to concerns.
“In the past, there has been enough notification. Notices have been sent out in the mail. There’s been about a month and a half to plan for that rate increase because people are living on a budget. This time, none of that was done this time,” said Resident Korina-Branson Jones.
Other residents, like Leslie Hanson, said they’ve felt left in the dark, and this comes as a shock to many on fixed incomes.
“I have a lot of retired friends here that struggle to even have a chance to go out to eat,” Hanson said. “What I saw was my bill nearly doubled, so like a 70 percent increase or so. So going from $28 to $52.”
PWSD 1 Board Members refused to interview on camera but sent the following statement below.
