One-time All-Star Brandon Ingram is still expected to be in the Pelicans' starting five come Wednesday (Oct. 23), hosting the Bulls in the season opener. However, it remains to be seen if Ingram is in the team‘s long-term plans as he’s set to become a free agent after the season ends.
With a deal on Ingram delayed, Murphy‘s future status with the team was unknown. That ends now as he’s locked in with New Orleans for the next five seasons.
As the Pelicans continue to finalize their rotations, Murphy is a player the team can either start or use heavily in the lineup next to Zion Williamson, one of the NBA’s most dominant players in the paint.
