Tesla has recalled an estimated 700,000 vehicles over a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system, according to the Associated Press. The recall involves certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles.
Documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say the monitoring system warning light may not remain illuminated between drive cycles. When that happens, the system may fail to properly alert the driver of low tire pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.
A free software update will be deployed to correct the issue, according to Tesla. Impacted owners are expected to be notified via letter starting on Feb.15, 2025.
The Cybertruck has now been recalled seven times since it was first delivered to customers in November 2023. Delivery of the Cybertruck was two years behind schedule when customers first began receiving the trucks.
