SpaceX launches Thuraya 4 mission from Florida’s Space Coast

Updated: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket blasts off from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – SpaceX successfully pulled off another Falcon 9 rocket launch from Florida’s Space Coast on Friday night.
In a release, company officials said the launch sent a communications satellite into orbit from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on behalf of the UAE-based company Yahsat.

According to Yahsat’s website, the satellite — dubbed “Thuraya 4″ — is actually the sixth that the company has sent into orbit, symbolizing “the nation’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in spacetech.”
Liftoff happened at 8:27 p.m., which was the very start of SpaceX’s four-hour launch window.
