The Tesla Cybertruck inspires one of two loaded feelings: you’re either in awe of the technology or the unique design, or you venomously hate it because of Elon Musk. Even if you hate the EV, most people won’t go further than scoffing, rolling their eyes, or shaking their heads.
A Texas man took his hatred for Cybertrucks to the extreme, attempting to run a couple off the road. Eric Corbett’s on-board cameras caught a blue Ram pickup speeding up from behind and swerving dangerously close to the Cybertruck’s driver’s side door.
Corbett quickly put together that he was trying to run them off of the busy highway. The couple tried to flee or get around the truck, but the driver blocked every attempt by either slamming his brakes to get to a dead stop or get really close to the front of the car.
The Tesla owner reported the driver jumped several curbs to block the Cybertruck from getting away, and flipped them off from inside the truck several times. They baited him off the freeway at one point, but the truck found them.
The senseless Cybertruck attack met a… Strange end
The Ram driver finally gave up the chase and was recorded leaving the freeway and sitting in a turn lane. The Cybertruck pulled next to the truck to head straight, and the truck driver got out of his truck. Corbett expected the worst, but the driver walked up to the window and flipped them off before driving away.
Everyone ended up getting home safely, but it could have ended a lot worse. In Houston, there aren’t any criminal charges specific to road rage, but there are laws against reckless driving and aggravated assault.
If he’s caught by police after this footage was released, he could be facing a hefty $10,000 fine and anywhere between two to 20 years in prison.
Viewers say Texas drivers are getting worse
One Texan said they’ve had a similar instance happen to them.
“People are crazy today, I had someone try to run me off the road because I passed them in the right lane. I was in late at night they were in the left lane, I had my cruise set at 77 (Speed Limit was 75) and I was in the right lane and passed them,” they wrote.
“They sped up and cut me off and started brake-checking me and tried to force me off the road. I made a couple of quick maneuvers and drove around them and accelerated past them.”
Another couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make fun of the Cybertruck.
“Potentially the first recorded example of a road rage incident involving a Cybertruck that wasn’t the Cybertruck driver’s fault,” they wrote.
Another said that the driver would be checked soon enough.
“Remember folks, there’s always someone crazier than you,” they said. “He will meet that person one day.”
