Gabriel Weisser is a Cybertruck owner from Greer, South Carolina and says he recently had an interesting interaction with a Tesla Model Y driver on the road. Gabriel says the Tesla Model Y driver was egging him on, so he ended up punching the accelerator, but the Cybertruck ended up wobbling violently when he reached around 90 mph. The flummoxed Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook. He writes… “I’ve put over 2,000 miles on my performance Cybertruck now. Today, a Tesla Model Y was taunting me, so I punched it, and when I hit 90 mph, there was a death wobble coming out of the front end.” Gabriel, naturally concerned about what occurred, concludes his post by inquiring if the community has experienced anything similar with their Cybertruck. He asks… “Has anyone felt this before?” In response, fellow Cybertruck owners offered several theories about what might have happened. A fellow Cybertruck owner, Sean Fitzgerald, asks… “Was there snow in the wheel?” In response, Gabriel says, No, writing back… “There is no snow in South Carolina.” Another Cybertruck owner, Erik Moore, from Seward, Alaska, asks… “Wow, this is surprising to hear, honestly. How bad was the death wobble? Did you have to slow down to almost a stop?” In response, Gabriel Weisser writes… “No, when I slowed down to about 70 mph, the death wobble stopped. I tested it again, and I got the same result. I thought loose lug nuts, but I checked them, and they are tight.” Without snow on the wheels and loose lugnuts, the next thing fellow Cybertruck owners wanted to know was whether Gabriel had hit something on the road. Fellow Cybertruck owner Roger Lewis humorously asks… “Were there a bunch of highway cones that you ran over?” Given that the death wobble happened on two different occasions, this, too, is unlikely. However, based on the experiences of other Tesla owners, the consensus appears to indicate that the death wobble was likely caused by an unbalanced tire, which may have been caused by loose foam inside the tire. A fellow Tesla owner, Bob Higginbotham, writes… “I had loose foam in the front tire, and it was horrible.” Another Tesla owner, Ians, also seconds this theory, writing… “Probably, the foam in the tires came loose. This happened to our Tesla Model Y performance, and we tried balancing the tires twice. Ultimately, the Tesla technician removed the foam.” Gabriel agrees with this theory writing… “I think you’re right. My brother-in-law works for Michelin, and he walked up while I was checking the torque on my lug nuts and said, ‘Hey, those are foam-filled tires.’” Overall, whatever the issue behind the death wobble, it’s interesting to see a Cybertruck owner taunted by a Tesla Model Y and nearly cause a major accident.
