Some feel it’s not enough of a truck, and many owners have struggled with mechanical issues. Making matters worse, the Cybertruck has a rust problem. Now, things may be worsening as one notable insurance provider doesn’t consider it up to their standards to provide coverage. According to Torque News, Robert Stevenson recently took to social media to share bad news about his Tesla pickup. He is a proud Tesla Cybertruck owner, but Geico has apparently dropped the vehicle from his multi-car policy. His post on X read, “@GEICO said they can no longer insure my Cybertruck. It makes no sense, as there are other, riskier cars out there. Let me know if you recommend any insurer for the truck. I have eight cars with an amazing record. I will be canceling my entire Geico policy!! Bye-bye!” Of course, this gives Cybertruck owners a bit of common ground with Kia vehicles, as some insurance providers won’t insure them either. However, this is one of the only stories of an insurance company refusing coverage for the Tesla pickup. Robert also included the alleged letter Geico sent that basically says, “This type of vehicle doesn’t meet our underwriting guidelines.” Of course, the reason Geico refused to insure Robert’s Tesla pickup is unknown. However, it could be for several reasons. For one, the parts of a vehicle like a Cybertruck are less common and more expensive. This means the insurance company would have to fork over more cash for repairs. Additionally, insurance companies could view it as more risky than other vehicles.
